PENDANT “Carnation”

“Bring something beautiful, material, tangible and transcendent to life.

An object, a pendant, a little treasure from the sea, nature and flesh. A petrified memory to carry close to the heart, a votive offering to my lost mother, whose skin was as pale as my own – a trait I inherited from her. Gold and an angel. A piece plucked from a bygone era, from the Flemish Renaissance.”

In these lines, I set out part of the wishes of a very special client. A commission whose creative process has been a journey through the portraits of 16th-century Flemish painters, to Italy, Venice and to my master goldsmith, Giovanni Corvaja. An 18 carat gold piece in which an ‘angel’s skin’ coral and a tsavorite are embraced and protected by a halo of gold threads. These ‘filaments’ lend it a unique volume and texture.

A pendant imbued with maternal memories.

A piece of jewellery that bears witness to his constant quest for beauty.
