She wanted a piece of jewelry that would remind her of what she had learned when her daughter was born—of the infinite love that had awakened within her and her trust in life. It wasn’t an easy birth.

To create it, I used the gold from two chains that belonged to her maternal grandmother. I melted down part of them and crafted three charms: a medallion engraved with her constellations, another piece featuring a black spinel as the centerpiece, and a box-shaped pendant with a lid that opens and closes like a secret box.

Three pieces of jewelry that her daughter will inherit and through which her mother will be able to tell her the story of her arrival.
